How Hearts For Elders handles your information.
What we collect
When you create an account we collect your name, email and password (stored securely, never in plain text). Student volunteers (ages 13 to 17) also provide a parent or guardian name, email and phone number, and a phone number for themselves. Partners provide an organization name. We also store event sign ups, volunteer hours, and anything you send through our forms or newsletter.
How we use it
We use your information to run volunteer events, confirm hours, contact you about events you joined, and reply to your messages. We do not sell your information. Phone numbers and other personal details are visible only to the board and are never shown publicly.
Students and parents
We ask parents or guardians for permission before a student volunteers. Parents can contact us any time to review, correct or delete their child's information or change photo consent at heartsforelders.illinois@gmail.com.
Photos
We only publish photos of volunteers who agreed to photo consent.
Event addresses
Exact event addresses are shown only to logged-in volunteers.
Service providers
We use Supabase (accounts and data), EmailJS (email delivery) and Stripe (donations; we never see card numbers).
